You have three ways of playing. With only one suit, the easiest and most likely the lowest amount of moves. The two suit which is difficult, but with only two to deal with, you have a great chance of winning, but not always.
And the four suits, which is the most difficult of all.
I always play with the two suits, which is challenging and winable. To me, the single suit is just organizing the cards of the same suit. No big deal.
With that, I challenge myself to make it no more than 130 moves. However, I have played it with as little as 102 moves. Again, that is with two suits. Try that for a challenge. The trick is to do as little "Undo" as possible. For every move you undo, you made two moves. That counts against you. Also putting a card, like a low number card such as Ace or 2, in an empty space either because you need to fill it or to move it out of the way, is an extra move that requires you to move that card again later, making it two moves for that card. Again, that adds up. So if you have a way to finish a stack and you have two stacks to choose from, take the one that has more cards under it so it will reveal the next card. If you finish a stack on an empty space, then you have gained nothing except another move because you now have to fill that empty space with a card. Find ways to reveal the bottom cards with as few moves as possible.

Man I haven't played one suit for ages... Sometimes you are lucky and when they deal you get the card you need in the correct spot, so there are times when you could have a lot less than 100 moves, maybe somewhere around 60. I haven't completely figured it out, but if on each deal you have each card land in the best possible spot then that is 5*10 cards that you do not have to move and there are already 8 cards you don't have to move so 58 cards that you don't have to move. There are 104 cards total, so the best game would have 104-58=46 moves. Humm that is quit a bit less than my guess of 60.

There are 2 decks of cards, so providing all the cards come out in the right order, you'd move each card once EXCEPT for the kings, as when the rest are on the king the set is complete, so surely it'd be the other 12 cards x 8 sets of them = 96 moves.
I think this works out anyway!

Just now i've made it at 97 moves, and still i think, that it could be done with at least 5 less movements
theredalbino is probably right, except that when you deal a new row, some cards may get straight onto the right place, so you won't need to move those

I just did 97 moves scoring 1203 points.
Took me ages to finally get under 100!
New best of 93 moves scoring 1207 points.
Some spreads are a lot easier than others.

I've barely been able to manage 1200, and 100 moves is the smallest I've been able to manage.
But so far, I have a streak approaching 300. :-)
