The Church (who's de facto home is The Vatican), is a business. And a very profitable one at that. You could even call it the longest running business in history. Either way, it thrives on profits. And these profits come from, like all businesses, its followers. Look at the 'Supply And Demand' concept. If people need religion, the Church business flourishes. Supply and demand. And like all businesses, creating this 'demand' is usually were the foul play comes in. Greed is a very powerful thing, and Power leads to greed. The church is, like all businesses, susceptible to this dark circle. And thus i have no doubt that the Vatican has manipulated things/events/people in the past/present to further fan the flames of demand for religion.
Of course the outstanding factor of the church from any other business is the irony of the church itself. It completely opposes everything it preaches to ascertain further wealth, and to ascertain further wealth, it preaches the things it opposes!
Very powerful entity The Church, and many things are done by men to stay in power...

Are you talking about the secrets of Fatima? (1900's)
1 - The Russian Revolution
2 - WWII
3 - This one was kept secret (well kept from the public anyway. It was said that each new pope was told about it after they came to office) but actually released in 2000. It stated a man in white was to fall in a hail of bullets. This was translated as the attempted assassination of the pope in the early 1980's.
As to what other secrets they have got hidden away - well I would guess that they damage the Catholic ethos or would panic people, so are kept hidden.

The vatican is one of the most powerful organisations on earth. If the full truth were known about the central claims of their religion, the vatican would either fall or have it's influence greatly reduced. We all know those in power do not easily relinquish that power.

Noblesse oblige.
It's all to do with Opus Dei - but don't tell Dan Brown or we'll be subjected to da Vinci Code II.
Have you ever tried the Check Spelling option? Much more exciting than hidden passages under the Vatican.

Anyone who keeps secrets has things to hide. That is why proceedings of the injustice institution in the Hague are generally not published in the mainstream Western (or the Israeli) media.

They hide it because should the truth about what they really are about come out, many people's lives, their beliefs, their purpose in life. They know very well that they have changed God's law. Even the Sabbath law, they will pay on judgement day.
