Not personally, but it means you have signs of a condition called pre-eclampsia. You will need regular blood pressure checks and your obstetrician might consider inducing your pregnancy. Don't worry though it happens quite commonly and is easy to manage.

Don't worry. As long as your midwife is keeping an eye on you, and you do as she says you should be fine. If your blood pressure was dangerously high you would be in hospital by now.

My niece had dangerously high blood pressure, and they gave her c section at just 25 weeks. She now has a perfect 1 year old little girl. So, at 39 weeks you should be fine.

just keep to what the midwife says. the blood pressure and protein together are classics signs of pre-eclampsia. if you start getting headache or sprakly lights - phone your midwife! hope everything goes well for you - get plenty rest and eat well just now - because you'll need it over the next fews days!

When I had Protein in my water it was because I had skipped breakfast. I am sure if your midwife was worried she would have said so.

High Blood Pressure is not unexpected so close to your due date.

Sit down, and relax, it maybe you last chance for a while.

Good luck, and may your labour be painfree. ;-)

I'm surprised they haven't discussed inducing labor with you.
I don't know who that moron is above me, but she said that protein is a sign you're getting ready to give labor. Well, it isn't. It is a sign of pre-eclampsia. You need to call your midwife and discuss your options, and have your blood pressure monitored, as this condition, while common, can be dangerous. Good luck.

We now have an 18 mo old son, and are expecting our second child, a daughter, in march---i wish you the best of luck!!! and just check with your doctor/midwife as the symptoms you mentioned can mean pre-eclamspia, or the beginning stages of labor--------in my first pregnancy-i swelled up like a water balloon, protein was detected in my urine and my blood pressure started to sky-rocket---it was pre-eclampsia, which i had never heard of,--- some of your organs (i can't remember right now if it's your liver or kidneys, it may even be something completely different) are damaged, and your blood pressure rises---it can cause MAJOR complications if you have a serious problem---some women have only slight symptoms, and things work out fine--others go through something much scarier, like i did, and end up in the hospital on bedrest with medications (i was treated with magnesium-sulfate or something like that) and early induction(me) or caesarian section--in cases like mine, the rising of your blood pressure can cause hemmoraging and/or stroke---this is why they need you in the hospital asap for bedrest and treatment---if you see flashing dots of light in your sight, or things go dark occaisionally--go to your doc ASAP----it's scary, but much easier to handle once you know what is actually happening. this is almost impossible to occur before 20wks and usually shows up a little later, like around 30 wks---i delivered my son 8 weeks early, he was 3lbs14oz, and 17in long---he was perfect, just small--after a short wk stint in the hospital, he was home with us, and life resumed its course!!

best of luck, and prayers your way!!!-sarah

I was 5 days overdue and I went to the doctor so they could check all my fluids to make sure everything was okay with the baby. It came up that I had protein in my urine and they were going to induce me! I was so excited I didn't really hear what all it can cause- BUT It is an indicator of preeclampsia (sp?) and you should be very close!

I am surpised you MW isn't more concerned. Granted you are at term but high blood pressure and protein in the urine usually aren't good signs. Good luck with the new baby.
