i have that news icon on my yahoo toolbar that i want to remove because i dont use it. im not very good on computers so please put step by step directions.

You can see one button looks like a pencil near the Y! button.
If you place your mouse on that Pencil button you will get a message as "Toolbar Settings". Click on that button to drop down the menu. In the menu you can see Personal Options. If you place your mouse on it you will get another sub menu. On that sub menu you can see Add/Edit Buttons. click on that. One page will be loaded or editing the menu bar settings. From that page you can Add or Edit your Yahoo menu bar buttons.

if you only want one item off your toolbar, just right click an empty space on the toolbar and click the name of the item so it has no check mark next to it. better though, to uninstall it, as toolbars aren't generally used. uninstall by start, controll panel, add or remove programs, and then uninstall

i dont have any idea how to take off the 'news' category particularly in the yahoo toolbar. but u can take off the whole yahoo toolbar;
right click on the menu bar - unmark the yahoo toolbar.
