for this article i'm gonna write for a basketball magazine.i'm thinking of writing about basketball and style, and include the whole basketball-music-fashion thing.any suggestions please?

guys, it's only been a few answers but let me just tell you that i already have material for 10 articles!it's gonna be a tough job to choose a best answer!

It is just a thought but you might try using the themes of Basketball as a showcase for presenting your own writing style.
It occures to me that you could try looking for some fantastic and imaginative ideas that you could create from the genre and then attempt to bend the style to include them
I think you would need to learn about the game, and about some of the things on the sidelines of it, and then try seeing what ideas occure to you and also if you could fuse any of them together to form other things.

dianka, i can appreciate that you may not need to learn about the game but i personally think it is more important for you to attempt to find a way of expressing this in an entertaining way.
it has occured to me that ti might be an idea to try to get some DVDs of some of the old Python episodes. You could also add some Richard Proir tapes and Spike Milligan meterial if you can find it.
I think that watching and reading these people and how they manage to fuse ideas together might just be a good source for you to get insperation from.
You could also look for some comedy that you like but i would try to pick things that have a professional air.

Well that is a very good idea and it has no limits...
I personally would write it about how Americans have been overtaken in "their own sport". There are many countries who have better teams than we can put together here with the NBA players. Thats just me...
But I do like your idea and if youre into more of the fashion/music thing rather than just the focus on basketball only then def. go with your idea...

If you choose this particular theme, I'd suggest:
Explain how basketball influences culture, and conversely, describe how trends in culture affect basketball. List some of the artists (mostly rappers), that today are regular patrons of the NBA, also current, popular, clothes designers that NBA players favor.
Write how there is an exchange of ideas and the cross-pollination of the two.

I think you should write some tips on being a great basketball player, and for fashion you can take pictures of different uniforms and compare them.

I think you should do a series of articles on what goes on behind the glory. No one talks about that or seldomly do. That would be interesting.
Another idea for a series of articles would be something like " whatever happened to..... " or " where is ? today ".

Hmm...Well...
You can write about maybe some really good players who say that basketball has changed their life.
You can write about tips and skills to help players.
You can also write about interesting facts of it and how it was started.
