I started working out a couple months ago and did two seperate workouts for my abs. The first is a "crunch" I would call it. Instead of putting your hands on your chest or behind your neck cross the forearms behind your head and rest your hands on your shoulder blades. Not only does give you more support to your neck and head, but 2 25 rep sessions of these will burn and it feels great! The second is for your lower abs where as the first was for the upper abs. This one, you lay on your back, legs in the air bending at the knee to make your calves parallel to the floor. Then you slowly lower your feet to tap your heel on the floor and then slowly bring it back up. Do these until you can't do them anymore. Hope it works out for you.

Well it depends right now...if you are overweight and have some belly fat then sit ups wont do anything for you, running will trim down the excess fat and sit ups will build upon the muscle you have right now. So you need both. If you are already fairly skinny but just have a flat stomach with no tone, then just sit ups will do but running will never hurt.

Situps will help define your ab muscles, but you'll also need to perform some aerobics to burn any fat that you may have on your stomach. Depending on your diet, you may need to alter the way you eat to help you reach your goal. If your a member of a half-way decen gym, they should have a personal trainer that you can schedule a session with. They will help you achieve your goals.
