Because after a while your jeans will have a kind of stone washed affect if you don't turn them inside out and they will fade too !.

you are meant to turn jeans inside out before washing, so that any dye that escapes will be re-absorbed... also this protects the outside surface from rubbing against other garments. It will also prevent fading and keep the jeans looking new!

Many do to keep them from fading....also to insure this....add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the wash..it will hold the colour. i wear black jeans and that is if i wear them at all i do not want them faded. In the event that it doesnt matter to you then don't use the vinegar, however washing them inside out keeps them from freying as well...there you go!

To stop the jeans from losing their colour. You can also do this with other clothes like T shirts to stop them from fading when they're on the washing line.

Actually, I wear them that way too. Wasn't aware they were inside out until people started telling me.
I wondered why it was so difficult to do up the snap and the zipper and why I had no place to put a belt.
So, I when I wash mine, I guess that means I wash them the way most people wash theirs (well, except you!), the way they are sold in the stores.

Not everyone does this, but I think it is because the jean's material may have a dye on them- which makes it blue...and when theyre washed, the dye leaks? But I'm not too sure.

Now that faded jeans are in style, we do not turn them inside out anymore....as this slows down the fading process.
