Ok, I'm 31 wks along in my pregnancy. And the other day I noticed that my ankles and feet were really swollen, and as I began taking my socks and shoes off I was shocked to see that right in the midle area of my calve looked like it was caving inward. I mean if you felt it there was a big dip in my leg, well the next night i noticed it happening to my other calve, and then today I was rubbing my belly and the same thing was happening to my navel. My belly button felt like it was as though it was also caving in, it didn't hurt it was just incomfortable and it felt kinda tight. What is going on??? Am I going to lose my baby???

p/s: I haven't been able to see my Dr, because my insurance dropped me, I am currently trying to resolve the issue, but in the mean time I'm for the health of my son. I've only been able to go to 2 Dr. appts through out my whole pregnancy. I don't have the money to pay for my visits every time, and I need to pay a co-pay if I'm not covered could be 50% of the bill.

Swollen ankles are common, just elevate your feet and it should help, or have your spouse rub your feet that will help too. As for the caving in of your calves maybe its because your body is swelling that its just the illusion of it happening. Your belly button may completely disappear some women's actually pops out, and that is normal too.

Is there a free clinic, because you are retaining water and that means that your blood pressure might be going up. Can you take your blood pressure some where. Please go to a doctor, your baby and your life depend on it. Most doctors would understand, and of course, you must have help when you deliver. Here in Calif. they will help people like you, so check into it. Here they have Medi Cal, for those that are in low income, and if you qualify, they will take you, In your case, you do not have much time, so check with the social services in your city or town. You must have something done immediately, or you could get into a toxic situation, which is very dangerous. Toxemia can kill you. please go get some help now. You really need to go now, and worry about the money later if you can. No one is going to turn you down in this kind of situation. Do not touch any salt of any kind, no sodas, no salty food, you will make it worse. Go now for the sake or you and your baby. Your life may be in danger or will be soon.

As everyone stated. It is perfectly normal to retain water in the last trimester. I havent met a pregnant woman who hasnt yet. Good luck, keep your feet up as much as possible. My skin felt like it was going to pop during my first pregnancy. Ouch!
And just as a side note...your baby should be perfectly safe. After 24 weeks gestation the hospitals have pretty good luck with bringing babies into full health and at 31 weeks you are in the clear.
