What If you and one million of the republicans in your state were purged from the voting role right before the election in order that the democrats would win 2006, would this upset you?
Well, that very thing just happened in Ohio my voting rights group just reports. My question is why do you think this is OK. Almost one million people in Ohio (mostly democrats) were just purged from the voting roles by Blackwell...who is also losing his governor's race by about 12% (well, he was till he got rid of the democrats)

What I have a hard time understanding it why Republicans trumpet their Americanism, patriotism, and moral values and yet when I post this information all they can say is things like boohoo, cry your crocodile tears, too bad, get over it, and bring up some obscure voting fraud from 15 years ago. What about now and what about cheating? Why aren't your ideas sufficient to win..why must you

approve of cheating? How is approval of this just because it is your "team" Amerivcan, patritic, or moral. Trust me if it happened to you and yours I would be in the streets protesting with you as if it ain't right, it ain't right...no matter who it happens to. Since when are only some Americans worthy of having the right to vote. What I truly want to know is why people should believe you when you trumpet your Christianity and values while ignoring the rule of love that Jesus said was greatest of all and ignore the golden rule of do unto others?
Why do you think we should bring this kind of democracy and values to other countries?

I would hang my head in shame if I treated others like that with insults, unkindness, approval of wrong, etc. Where are the good Republicans who really do follow Jesus. Do you approve of purging one million democratic voters so your guy can win. What if the 80 year old guy (black) who I heard nearly crying cause they purged his name from the voting role after voting in the same place 50 years was your dad?

Further information and some of the many ways republicans cheated in 2004 are in this article. The story above just broke. I was at a three day voting conference with the attorney listed in the article and neither he or his wife mentioned anything like this the last day of the conference Sunday (four days ago). I know and trust him..and expect we will hear more about it soon. Check out this article and even if I diesagree with your post, at least thanks to those who actually read the article.

To answer the poster above, the problem is having sufficient attorneys and time and money to file in each of the 88 counties more than driving there and getting records. Also Blackwell has had records ripped from the hands of people reading public records before.
Also it states in the article that the mail sent was timed so that they could not get reinstated in time..in other words they waited until it was too late for the victims to do anything. Also rather than putting them as inactive status which they should have done, they purged them completely so they would be forbidden to vote. Had they placed them as inactive, they could have still voted at the board of elections building, but they made sure they could not vote effectively, wiping out Strickland considerable lead of about 12 points. This is blanent cheating.
The Ohio Democratic party is notoriously lame and totally ignored the massive voter fraud in 2004 and did not respond to a considerable amounts of emails ..it's just democrats see their partiy's uselessness and corruption while republicans ignore their party's evilness and corruption. I am talking the average guy here.

Let me see if I got this right...After the 2004 election, the Ohio Secretary of State sent letters to registered voters in Ohio asking that they confirm their registration or their registrations would be purged from the rolls of elligible voters. Now you're upset because most of the Democrat were so irresponsible they they threw the warning letter away instead of simply following its instructions. Is it not the duty of the Secretary to ensure the validity of the rolls of registered voters and did he not exercise that duty in an honest manner by sending these letters TO ALL OF THE VOTERS? If, as the liberal reporter suggests, the letter was designed to look like junk mail (how does one do that anyway? offer free bingo on the outside of the envelope or something? Maybe free real estate?) why didn't the Democratic Party of the State of Ohio contact their support base and make it clear that the registrations had to be confirmed? Were they asleep at the wheel? YOU SNOOZE, YOU LOSE!

I think many Republicans are decent - but we have to hold accountable the leadership of the GOP. These people believe holding on to power is more important than doing what is right and fair. A decent rebuplican won't believe the ends justify the means.
Bush and followers, and the christian zealots that idolize him are not decent by any stretch of the imagineation.
Neocons are not decent republicans. Cheney is not, nor is Bush,
Decent republicans don't suspend habeas corpus protections.

OK, you posted this twice... Here is the answer to your other post...
Isn't it odd that instead of telling the readers to contact their local Democratic Party Central Committee Headquarters (each county in Ohio has one) they tell the readers to contact national news media personalities that are going to be sympathetic to their cause and more than happy to exploit this as a conspiracy whether or not it really is? Certainly the Democratic Party in Ohio would want to right this terrible wrong. Could it be that there really isn't a wrong to right? Wouldn't you think that if this were in fact true the Democratic Central Committee for each county in the effected areas would jump all over this?
Also, according to Fitrakis "It may be necessary to actually deal with each of the 88 counties. They say we have to get the records from the county-- you literally have to fax phone or show up to literally demand these records." Is showing up in each county to attain these records impossible? You mean there aren't 20 people available to go to 88 different counties *in one day* to request these records? That is an average of driving to 4 different counties for each person. It certainly isn't a hard task to perform driving to four different locations in one area. I could drive to four different locations in four different counties get the "lists" all on the same day and still be home in time to prepare dinner by mid afternoon.
Another oddity... notice how many times the word "probably" is included in the accusations? Probably doesn't mean these accusations are facts. Probably means it is possible. Probably doesn't mean it is actually true. Fitrakis knows this. It is his way to get "a" message out regardless if that message is actually true.
As for "We're up against 88 county prosecutors". Well, I live in a County inside the state of Ohio. The Prosecutor is a good man, an honest man and a diehard Democrat. I know him well. Even though our Prosecutor is sworn to perform his duties based on the law (and I have no doubt he will stand by that ethic) He would be all over this if he felt there was some ploy by Republicans to do something unethical or unlawful.
Nobody can be so simple minded as to not see the holes in this article. If you don't see the problems with what this article states it is because you choose to over look the obvious. What does that say about your ethics?

I must say WAAAAA. They were warned and no where in the article does it say that they were all Democraps. It says that Urban apt dwellers were given the letter. This is done to make sure that everyone that is registered to vote is still living or still in the state. Quit whining and tell your Moron democrats to read and this wont happen.

I live in Ohio , follow the news closely and have not heard one word of this .
After reading the link , I see where you would be upset . But they don't give you the whole story .
People who didn't vote in the previous General Election must reregister or be taken off the rolls , that's the law and has been for many years
Of course , way down at the bottom comes the kicker .
GIVE ME MONEY !!
Tell half the story , get people pissed off and get them to send money .

I like the part where they said that they cleverly disguised the letter to look like junk mail. That's a load of crap. I think it's just an excuse democrats use to blame republicans for their own ills.
