Every generation seems to come up with their own. For our grandparents it was Big Band Jazz, then for our parents it was 50s and 60s rock (Elvis and the Beetles), my generation was all about the 80s pop music growing up and somehow that morphed into punk alt. rock.... (all while on the sidelines there was this undercurrent of boy-bands and sex icons coming through--thank god that seems to have died) now it seems to be all about this emo "I'm so sad/angry, everybody feel sorry for me" crap.
So.. do I think a new kind of music will be invented? Absolutely...
Will it be better than the styles of the past?
I'm not holding my breath that's for sure!

Personally i would like to hear some music that does not belong in any of the known catogories.
It would be nice to hear something that transcends that
