Could be a good idea if all governments elect a president for a period of time and every country, have the same right to elect and be elected, if every country were rule by the same system, I mean no communism, no capitalism just a new kind accepted by every country totally.
Make this change allow every country to accept a new global currency, constitution, environment control and law system to make rules equally to every one and make global strategies to fight against poverty, diseases, environment care and other problems. maybe this could make things more fair economically.
The main weakness in this kind of goverment is the same every country have now, every country must elect a good representant who represent in this new UN. This representant must be totally independent with no boundaries with any economical or ideological group something thats is very difficut in this days.

If you have one government for the world who would serve in this government? Would there be a representative from every country in the world or would it be made up of the most powerful countries? Who would elect the members of the government? Where would the government be based? Given the vast differences in culture religion and the like between the east and the west how on earth would you get agreement on any policies? The proposal is totally unworkable. As to having no borders this would simply encourage people from poor countries to go to richer countries leaving the poorer countries desolute and the richer countries overcrowded. How would you get countries to agree a common tax system, voting system and legal system? In the EEC it is difficult to get countries to agree on certain matters. What would it be like on a world scale? I am sorry but the idea is purely a pipe dream.

Borders are imiginary lines that animals can cross but humans can't this is wrong. Ever see the red tape if you amrry someone from an allied nation? It took 4 years to clear my wife her from new zealand, since Im a disabled vet, that delayed the process as they wouldnt put her on my disability as a dependent until she got a us perminate residency card! Which made my income below the guide lines! When we got married we thought that gave us the right to cohabitate in either country, so she over stayed her visa by 2 days when we found out oh no! I went to New Zealand and fought for perminate residency for 4 years, due to my dissabilty I was disqualified, and deported, which made things more complicated.

There are people that can't get along with their neighbors even though they share the same language and cultural heritage. It would be magnified if there is nothing that people unify the people.
A free people wouldn't put up with a totalitarian state, which most of the thugs in the united nations are.
There are ways for people to move around the world, it's just a matter of playing by the rules.

Centralization will lead to disaster. I envision a wiki-government, well not a wiki but a collaberatively designed government where representatives are held directly accountable by the constituents. The world may be leading very slowly to that, but there are simply too many cultures out there that remain in the Dark Ages (i.e., uneducated and suppressed) to accept this idea firsthand.

Nice idea, so long as it would be a US type government.
However I am afraid that the current UN membership would make it into a China style society, if not a North Korea style one. In which case thanks, but no thanks.
