There are a lot from around here. There's one almost everyone knows about in my town, although its not about my town. It's the Francisville Light. There's a field outside of Francisville where if you park your car and wait for a while, you see a light passing through the rows of corn.

What supposedly happened was back in the 1800's an old couple were going down the road in their horse drawn wagon. It was storming really badly, and the thunder spooked the horses suddenly, and the wife fell off the wagon and was decapitated by the wheels. The light is the husband searching for his wife’s lost head.

And I've also heard, in the same general area, if you park your car underneath a tree, you'll hear scratching on the roof of the car.

This is the story about this one: Two teenagers were out for a drive when their car suddenly broke down. The boy pushed it off the road and underneath a tree. Neither one of them had a cell phone, so the boy offered to go find help while the girl stayed and watched the car.

Well, she started to dose off, when she suddenly heard a frantic scratching on the roof of the car. Too scared to get out, she cowered in the seat until it stopped soon after it started. Still too frightened, she stayed in the car until the sun came up. When she finally dared to come out, she saw her boyfriend hanging from the tree. The scratching had been him on top of the car as he was being killed.

I don't tell them very well, honestly. These are actually really spooky, and they're true, because last year my friends and I decided to go check both of them out. It's really creepy.

There is a story about a girl who was killed in a car accident in the 1920's on this stretch of road I live near. Some people say that at night around 4 in the morning and you are driving along where the accident took place a girl in a blue dress will be standing on the side of the road to flag you down and ask you to take her home. She gets into the back and disappears. I have never experienced this and I drive that way to work and from work sometimes around that hour. But that's a story that has been around for years.

Apparently, in Wisconsin, Hwy. 59 in Rock County, WI near Lima Marsh Wildlife Area, there was a recent sighting of something that is similar to the Critter that is chronicled in the book called:
Hunting for the American Werewolf -- The Beast of Bray Road by Linda S. Godfrey (an investigative journalist).
(the movie on tv is not the same as the book)

If you click on the link below, it will take you to the website which contains details on all the different sightings along with the people's stories & photos.

I live in Trinidad in the West Indies. Our culture is rich in legends and folk lore.
One such legends or folk lore is that there is an old woman who after performing a ritual where she eats the heart of a corps and says a spell under a tree in the middle of a Savannah at midnight she receives the ability to take off her skin, turn into a ball of fire and go into peoples houses and suck their blood at night while they sleep she is called a soucouyant. To kill her one must find her skin while she is out and rub salt into it. When she gets back and puts on the skin it burns her and the villagers must put her and her skin into a barrel and throw her into the sea. May persons wake to find black and blue marks on their skin said to be that left by the bite of the soucouyant. Or Trini Vampire. I my self have had a few bites.

then there is a legend that when a child is not baptized before they die they turn into Douens a evil spirit that lures children away. It is believed that you should not call your children's names out out because these beings hear them and come calling them/ It is believed that many children have been led astray by douens never to be seen again. These douens look like children with no features and a mouth their feet are turned backward, they ware straw hats and are naked.

About 30 miles from where I live there is a stretch of railroad tracks where you can see an unexplained light when you look down the tracks at night. It is supposed to be from the man swingin' the lantern, who worked for the railroad long ago, and tragically died.
