Well it may be MAJORITY where you live, but it certainly isnt in tyne and wear!

Anyway, we are including pakastani's and many other cultures, 2nd even 3rd generation and anyone who feels they belong to a bme group, whether new immigrants or not. funding is covered and the project is based throughout tyne and wear, we can cover all areas

I can imagine this is a very difficult task as Tyne are Wears urban areas are probably the most white in England. I suggest contacting the Office of National Statistics (www.statistics.gov.uk.) They may be able to provide information on areas with the highest non white ethnic populations. It might be also worth contacting Mosques, Hindu Temples, Sheik Temples (try www.tijarapages.com) and specific Churches, such as Seven day Adventist, Baptist etc.

it would depend on what you mean by black, do you include pakistanis /indians or just african's, people who are 2nd or 3rd generation african /afro carribean descent and part white or just people that are fresh immigrants from africa.
link to housing, social services, CAB, the police community services dept, all major local community groups (the ones that are non specific and can channel your target group to you) how many translators have you got access to and what languages do they speak? africa is a big place with lots of countries and immigrants from different countries speak different languages just the same as european countries do, im not sure where in tyne and wear has the highest miniority of "blacks" if your covering the pakistani community it is probably benwell if its recent imigrant from africa no idea but housing/social services will know where they have put them, so this should be taken into account. (how does your mission statement define black, i'm a quarter egyption so im not white but im not black either however I have had many racist comments directed at me luckily so far no violence), do you base in newcastle, gateshead, sunderland or elswhere and is funding an issue for where you are based, the guy from the anglo/asian community center near newcastle general hospital that got some peace prize recently can probably help you but i've forgotten his name you can probably find it easily enough by looking at recent news articles he got it in the last month or so, also contact the local HIV+ charities services as they do have many clients that are HIV+ and black if nothing else if you have a better translators you can help them get services they have difficulty reaching because of language difficulties (many africans that immigrate to the UK are HIV+ this isnt racist it is an unfortunate fact and often thier HIV status has little to do with thier reasons for immigration or is only discovered after they have arrived)

I see you have some unhelpful answers there, as usual. The only thing I can suggest is that you contact some local radio stations eg. metro, or the BBC on Barrack Road. I'm sure they'll be able to help you, and may be able to send you a list of contacts.

Contact the North of England Refugee service, and the Regional Refugee Forum. (both on the web). They will put you in touch with hundreds of groups who are very helpful
