I have some thoughts in addition to those valid ones offered by number 1.
Certainly you should acquire the skills and abilities needed, however we all have witnessed even famous "actors" who seriously lack those.
"Pursue" is the operative word, and I'll add one. "Pursue Persistently." It has to be a passion, and one that drives you.
In your efforts you'll likely need to learn humility, in order to be humble.
You should consider peanut butter as your friend, and perhaps your main source of nourishment.
You should be able to accept rejections, and not regard them as personal attacks, but be able to move on from them, hopefully learning from the experience, and try again.
Network constantly with others in the craft, and seek out any and all HELP you can.
On the off chance that you are the next major Oscar winner, lets say, in the year 2016, go about your efforts as if you believe that's a possibility... BUT also be aware of the competition, and accept that ACTING has levels of success. Some are content even if they never walk the red carpet.
Be mindful of your beginnings, and anyone who might have helped you, and perhaps even thank them.

You must be in drama or theater since you're in HS. If your school has school plays, just audition. Also go online and search for sites on acting. I've done so many times, it takes patience and love for your decision though. I think the best thing to do would go to a site like www.yellowpages.com. Search for your local schools. It's not that expensive and so worth it! Good luck!!

Join the drama department at school, major in theater in college (B.A. degree), go to grad school and get an MFA in theater. After that audition for professional theaters in your city, as well as, the best regional theaters in your state.

Go to college and get a degree in "Drama", then get a "commercial" agent, then a SAG card. After that switch to an agent that doesn't specialize in commercials. If it doesn't work out...you'll always have the degree.

It just happens...
You start out slowly... find a class... take lessons.
You do a little digging, and find auditions to attend...
You find more classes....
You read everything you can find... scripts... novels... books about acting and actors, in your spare time.
You attend industry meetings and workshops... as many as you can find.
