"A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens was the first book I do remember always as my first book.....in fact it was assigned by the university authorities for examination purpose....and of course it was in abridged form. But it gripped me and my friends so powerfully, that later even after examination we got the original and unabridged version from city library.....and no wonder we enjoyed it even more....like million of others world over.

The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. When I was a kid, I spent tons of time reading Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, etc., and then I discovered Ellen Raskin. Boy is she bright. This mystery story blew my mind. Great characters. Crazy, fun plot. A real who-dunnit. Back in the day, I lent this book to everyone I knew. I have a copy on my shelf, and I may just go back and reread it. Again.

Nowadays, I share with friends Pride and Prejudice, Heart of Darkness, The Four Agreements, No Opportunity Wasted, Feeling Sorry for Celia, A Passage to India, The Sun Also Rises, Trainspotting, Bel Canto, Bleak House, and To the Lighthouse. And several others. Love them all for a million different reasons.

I've read so many books, it would be hard to pinpoint the very first book that I "passed" on to others because I loved it so much. As the youngest in my family, it was always me reading what everyone else had already read, but one of the ones that stand out in my memory is Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. I probably remember passing that one on to friends, etc. because it didn't fit the genres of what everyone was used to reading...and sometimes it took some convincing.

The old version of the first few "Shannarah" series of AUDIO BOOKS were really well done with charachter specific voice styles (like a cartoon with a more mature plot and no video).

I thought my Intro to sociology book was pretty good and you can find the poster I hope to have time to write a wikipedia article about which will link to sociology @ its home page here: www.dharmaprinting.com and mentioned again on my personal page www.freewebs.com/extinctculture where I mentioned some other audio books........ Please Google search for OneNote 2007 demo, and tell all students about it. It is part of the new Microsoft Office package.

I read a book by James Herbert called Nobody True.It was a story about a man who had OBEs and one night when he was outside his body travelling around, he was murdered. So he's stuck in limbo trying to figure out what happened. You know I actually want to read it again now having thought about it. James Herbert is a fantasy horror writer.I've read most of his stuff and would also recommend Portent and The Magic Cottage.

I'm always pointing people toward books. I love books, and I feel that people don't read enough. I can't remember the first one, but I have led others toward the Kellermans, Jennifer Crusie, British writers Elizabeth Buchan and Anna Maxted, Mary Kay Andrews. And I can't forget my grade school teacher, Roberta Simpson Brown.

I've shared lots of books with friends - King Fortis the Brave is one that I've not only shared with friends, but I share now with my students, especially those that still need to develop a love of reading.

Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews, but that was a long time ago and really wouldn't thrill me at all these days (or would it???). I first read it when I was about 13.

Shadowlands by Peter Straub. It's still my favorite. If you like Stephen King, check it out.
