She got a nice smile. Rolf Harris said she was a genuinly nice person when he met her.
Considering all little girls want to be pricesses she's not what i would call an enthusiasic role model.
As for the image. She represents this idyllic image of Britain. But Britain is anything but idylic to live in at the best of times. The ignorance on everyday life in Britain amongst Americans on here shows how succesful they Royals are at performing their public relation duties. And she is the masthead.

She's a great woman who has done a hard job for many years which has entailed being informed, being impeccably polite and tactful, putting up with the company of a great many people most of us are privileged enough to be able to avoid, shaking enough hands to give her a serious potential problem (her husband developed osteoarthritis of the wrist), making speeches, sitting through ceremonies which would have many of us in stitches with a straight face, smiling resolutely as needed, looking good, putting up with family crises, being forced to hold Tony Blair's hand at the Millennium Dome, being shot at during Trooping the Colour, having her bedroom invaded by a madman despite the bevy of servants at Buck House.... And there's no real prospect of retirement for this octogenarian. One great lady!

She is my Queen, head of state and defender of the faith.
I regard the sovereign as an integral part of being British and I am proud of her and the unfailing work she does on our behalf.
Every attack on the monarchy devalues us as a nation.
The cost to each of us to keep the monarchy could be lost down the back of the sofa in a year.
What we get in return in invisible and visible profit is immense.
Also the Queen Mother was Scottish which is a plus for a Scot.

Queen Elizabeth II is a good hearted lady. The last time she visited Zimbabwe she helped the needy.

Caicos Turkey and Waistel and all the rest of you that support and admire the Queen I completely agree with you. She is every inch a lady who still believes in good old fashioned values of decency, honesty and a whole lot of other good things! She does a tough job and I don't envy her, but I do look up to her and respect her.
I am all in favour of our royal family!

Not much! After the way they treated Princess Diana and for the way avoided the public and the media after her tragic death I do not think much to them.
Infact I do not think they should be in the position of where they are.
I know there are a lot of royalists out there but what have they done for me or the person asking this question...nothing and most probably nothing again.

I hate anyone or anything associated with monarchy. And that old pile of s#!t is the epitome of royalty today. The hag doesn't even have any REAL political power anyways, so she is even more worthless than any other monarch in history!!!

I think she has handled her responsibility to the best of her ability. I have sympathy for her as a woman because I think she's had to put all her emotions on hold to be able to be the queen.
A side note...I see a bit of a double standard here...why is it alright to bash Bush but not alright to bash Elizabeth? They are both doing a job none of us want to do and are doing it in the face of much adversity. Just because what they do isn't what we want them to do is no reason to tear them apart in the public media.

Compared to the great Kings & Queens of the past I think she's pretty weak on comparison. She doesn't get involved in anything to do with the government and is quite happy for them to do their thing.
Hopefully when Charles becomes King things will change. I think he'll be more forceful and change things a bit more.

she is a good queen that has done little to interfere with the democratic process of national government although she has the right to do so (in responmse to the person saying she does nothing to effect government THIS IS A GOOD THING if she took over government we would be in a dictatorship not a democracy), i hope our next monarch is as good wether it goes to charles or one of his children
