It is very interesting. I thought the autism would happen to a few number of the people in the society, but after encountering many cases, it looks like the autism has somewhat became a common phenomena.

Do you agree with me?

At the same time, I want to have a poll. Who here knows anyone with autism or yourself have one?

I do.

Answering to Nancy K;

I personally believe that the global society has become less trusty and reliable to some people, and causing the autism.

But this may, may not be true. We still do not even know exactly what causes the autism (some say it is the nutrition or chemical thing, whereas the other like me, believing the autism is more of psychological disorder.).

I don't think it has become common. It's like a lot of other things (child molesting) breast cancer in men, cervical cancer that is hard to detect, It has always been around it is just being open and not hidden anymore from the public people are trying to get help and bring things to the public eye to let them know these things are a problem in this country and we have to start doing something about it

Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder that manifests in delays of "social interaction, language as used in social communication, or symbolic or imaginative play," with "onset prior to age 3 years," according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. The ICD-10 also requires symptoms to be "manifest before the age of three years." Autism is often not physiologically obvious, in that outward appearance may not indicate a disorder, and diagnosis typically comes from a complete physical and neurological evaluation. Some now speculate that autism is not a single condition but a group of several distinct conditions that manifest in similar ways.

I have a grandson with autism. Now he has started having seizures. From the meds?
Who knows.
What do you think is the reason for the increase?

I dont think it is more common we are just more aware of Autism.

The first national surveys of autism show the condition is very common among U.S. children -- with up to one in every 175 with the disorder, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday.
"Also the criteria for autism have been broadened slightly."
