Depends on which author of the Dracula books you read. Fred Saberhagen is normally a science fiction author but he has a whole series of books about Dracula starting with ' An Old Friend of the Family ' which is quite good. In it Dracula is still a dirty evil rotten S.O.B., but he is the good guy.

I don't think he's supposed to, but nevertheless I've never been able to help the feeling that he must have. I've not got any real evidence for saying that, yet I feel that as a character he must have been unhappy, always a predator, feared, hated and unable to die.
