My country is going through trying times politically and economically! The Zimbabwe story has been told in news all over the world. I've read some very biased reporting and want to know what the world out there really believes about Zim. What is your view.

This question assumes you have at least a little bit of info on Zim viz land reform, democracy and economics. I will give my own opinion after say 10 responses

My view is that Mugabe has made a series of poor decisions. The general idea that the land had to be given back to indegenous people was right, and much as it was a neccesary process, it needed to be a gradual one in order to minimise the kind of negative effects we are now seeing.
The policy with the support of the UK of compensating the farmers and gradually handing over the land was a good one. However Blair was disapointing in his half hearted commitment to it.
However Mugabe's actions were wrong- to seize the land with no consideration for the transition system, and also allowing power to corrupt him into becoming just another African dictator. I have no kind words for the person he has become.
And I feel Zimbabwe's potential has been undermined by him.

Robert Mugabe is a good leader to start with and Zambabwe is going thru a tough time because of his stance against the white capitalist. I have been watching the news closely and support him very much. His ideas will make the country truly independent. Own resources and be self dependant. Unfortunately, not all his cabinet people trully hold this at heart. they have taken this time to be corrupt and greedy. THis is something inevitable in any large and major programme or event. You always get that regardless of what country it is......USA....Britain...France....they have their equal shar eof corruption and mismanagement. On the whole zambabwe will be a great country if its people persevere.

yes, I do know a little about Zimbabwe.
IMO it is the perfect example of completely wasted opportunities. OTOH that is definetly the leading trend in the world, so theres no reason to feel singled out. Maybe your politicians are just a bit louder than others

My perception is that MAD BOB is driving the country totally up the pole. He is killing his own people with hunger, forced removals etc.

The Zimbabweans that I've met (ALL RACES) are great people.
