i have a friend, who recently confirmed of having unsafe sex with someone she dont know.she dont know the other person, but she still engage in unsafe sex with that person. then she is not sure if that other person has AIDS or not. it was alm0st two months since she had sex with that person. still, she is bothered if she's caught up with AIDS on that person. she said, that person she had sex with didnt bother to use any protection. right now, she feels ok, she didnt have any disease yet, or anything, just a few fever, but she feels fine afterwards. i just wanted to help her overcome her fears, for i for myself dont know if AIDS will be present immediately after having sex with somebody suspected w/ AIDS. i suggested that she should undergo some exam, and i accompanied her on the hospital for a urine test, 2 weeks after the said unsafe sex, but the results was negative. stillshe is bothered. i want to know, when you have sex with someone who has AIDS,will it affect immediately???

I know you are going to get a ton of people on here telling you your friend is stupid for doing that, and that's not what you want to hear. I'm going to be honest with you and tell you my opinion...

Statistcally, NO, she probably doesn't have AIDS. It's not like 1 in 4 people are out there walking around with the disease...

However, the window period (the time between initial infection and the development of detectable antibodies against the infection) can vary. This is why it can take 6-12 months to test positive.

Enough time may not have elapsed yet for the virus to take root and to start affecting her body. Also, I don't think a urine test is enough to determine whether or not she has the disease. You need a good old fashioned blood test.

If he/she is too scared to go to the doctor...there is a test that you can buy at Walgreen's...here is the link....but I would personally buy a test now....take it...and repeat in another six months time just to be on the safe side.

Good luck with your friend!

There is a difference between AIDS and HIV. HIV is the viirus that infects people and AIDS is the disease that arrises after the virus had destroyed nearly all you T cell required for the immune system. When infected with HIV say within a week you will get general Flu like symptoms as the body is trying to fight it off, fever, headach, the general flu symptoms. then it clears up, the symptoms that is. As your body builds up antibodys to the HIV virus you will not know you are infected. Without treatment death happens with in 2 years of infection usually due to other infections that your body would normally fend off. This is what the blood test checks (HIV antibodys). Mose clinics have a HIV test that does not require a blood test, just a slight prick of the finger and a few drops of blood. results are determined in minutes. Don't worry so much about the HIV or developing AIDS. There is treatment called HAART that prolongs life for infected people by reducing the virus load and boosting the immune system. There are many cures that are in the trial stages that may perhaps in 10 years be made available to people. Also 1 out of 100 white people are actually immune to HIV and there body will not allow the virus to take hold and they will never develop AIDS. Dont worry about it as that also speeds up infection if infected. Go get checked out. The tests are very accurate. Have protected sex from now on. The virsus threat was recently lowered to a level 2 virus less infectious then the Flu. The virus is generally hard to catch and develope due to its highmutation rate where only 1 out of 11 virions that are released from an infected cell are actually able to infect another cell. A cure is on the way. Recent treatment will keep you alive until then.
