Damn, will it cost that much? I'm curious where the money goes to... judges, prosecutors, jury, lethal injection juice... And you know how damn incompetent the government is w/ money.
Go figure.

You have a good argument about the cost. Republicans want to save money, have a small government, yet an execution will cost more than many years of incarceration. Why not keep these defendants in jail and make them do some job which pays their keep?
Have you ever seen those jail documentaries on MSNBC? These jails are living hells. For those Republicans who believe in eternal salvation -- why let a guy get saved and go straight to heaven when he could suffer for 30, 40, 50 years in jail first?
There's always a chance that an innocent man will be convicted. This is why I don't believe in the death penalty. A few years ago, at least 7 men on death row in Illinois were found to be innocent, and the governor pardoned them and halted further executions. This governor was a Republican, and had been pro capital punishment, but he was stunned when these men were exonerated.
People say, oh "now there's DNA, so no innocent person can be convicted". Two years ago a man was arrested and held for the murder of his two year old child. He was jailed for over one year, and scheduled for trial before he was shown to be innocent. DNA evidence was available, but not used! What about the Duke University students whose DNA was negative, yet the prosecutor continued his case against them? There will always be mistakes in the system, at each level, from the witnesses and victims to the police, the prosecutors, the defense lawyers, and the judge. No system is perfect, that's why we can't execute people!

I believe in justice, but not at any cost.
That is a lot of money even if the course of action is just, which it is.
Hopefully it will require much less of a bill, but this is the government we're speaking of and money is no object, because it isn't there's heh.

You might try letting the cop killer go free. It'll cost nothing- at least not money.
Or maybe have the IRS check the spending bills?

It shouldn't cost that much, tie a rope to the top of a building and do it the old fashioned way.
P.S. can anyone that sees this please click my name and answer some questions.
