The latest edition of Sports Illustrated magazine has proclaimed the Phoenix Suns to be the 2006-07 NBA Champions (over the Miami Heat).

Does the dreaded "SI Jinx" cover this, even though the Suns are not shown on the front cover?

It's possible and they will probably dominate the west once again, but once the Heat make the playoffs, it's an entirely different story. Personally I think the Mavs are due this year and Detroit starts their slow descent towards the bottom.

Nah - the SI jinx is not in effect (yet), it's the cover, lol.

I'd keep a wary eye on the Mavs. They are hungry. The Spurs (meaning Tim Duncan) are getting old. Steve Nash is about 32 and must be feeling his age -- what an amazing player, but without Amare I don't think the Suns will surprise anyone. Teams can look at the tape of the Lakers vs Suns in the playoffs to see how to beat them. The Lakers took them to seven games and they were one of the youngest teams in the NBA last year.

In the East, I think the Pistons are fading and the Heat are ancient. Keep an eye on the Bulls -- they should be a lot of fun to watch this year.

Hell NO... they will not win the NBA title. SI has always made bad predictions. Here is another one. Mavs are not either. Everyone is knocking the Spurs this year and not mentioning them. They will be there. If they had not got screwed by the refs during the mavs series, they would have shut down wade/shaq.
My Sleeper team is Chicago, scary team.

Go Spurs Go!

short answer is not any. One, in spite of the undeniable fact that that's a competent kit, there is not any assure the two team could do the commerce (in spite of the undeniable fact that i think of they could and can). additionally by way of shifting Marion, they lose there superb rebounder and in spite of the undeniable fact that Durant is a precise tier college rebounder, will it translate to the subsequent point? additionally, why no longer save the 5th %. and grab an athletic enormous interior the mould of Brandon Wright if he leaves? in certainty, then they might finally be observing a lineup of Nash, Bell, Marion (shifting right down to SF), Wright, Stoudemire. they could surely sparkling the glass and run like mad men. Then the Suns ought to kit their 2 techniques late first around techniques for a late late lottery %. like 12-13 or possibly 15-sixteen merely outdoors the lottery and seem to characteristic a PG for intensity in the back of Nash.

Unless phoenix gets Amare back to 100% by the end of the season, ready for the playofss, the Suns can only get to the Western Confrence Finals. Amare provides that extra defensive presence, rebounding and power domination and finishing that Phoenix needs to win the title. With Amare back, NO TEAM IN THE NBA WILL STOP THE SUNS. TRUST ME. WAT AND SEE MOTHER *******.
