.. because when someone dies their next of kin or family are expected to pay for their funeral. so who pays for 'taking care' of the dead bodies of homeless people?

dead, homeless people are cremated. the money for that is taken from public $$, so the taxes you pay will contribute to the cremation of that homeless guy you saw on the street last week.

They become a ward of the state and if no one claims the body within 72 hours after death, the state is free to do what they see fit. Most of the time the bodies are donated to an anatomy board for dissection. Hope this helps!

Usually the county pays for a very generic funeral. Their grave is usually marked with a simple metal plate and the caskets are like cardboard.

If they have a mental illness or disability, I feel sorry for them. There is genuine racism and poverty out there and certain economic and cultural barriers. Most people try living in their own communities and reaching out for help. If you are also a Vietnam/Gulf War vet or a victim of abuse under age 23, I feel sorry for you. The others are just useless career criminals who deal drugs and engage in prostitution, muggings, theft, vandalism and other criminal activity, such as arson.

I think their remains are cremated like someone already mentioned at public expense.
Pauper's cemeteries are a thing of the past. I think.

They are used to make various food stuffs; dog food, cat food, baby food. Some are donated to Universities for classes on anatomy. Some have their organs taken out and sold on the black market. Do you have any idea what a slightly used left kidney goes for?
