How sad letting a man tell you what to do. Walking on egg shells is for the birds. It is time for you to take back your individuality amd independance. There must be someone in your family or a friend you could confide in. Get up the courage to talk with your husband. It sounds like he has no respect for you either. Are you allowed to have a friend or family member over when he isn't there? If that is the case, then it is time for you to take action. You do not need to stay in an abusive relationship either. You really do have options.
Good Luck,

If there is a lot of fighting between a couple, I would not be going to family parties and looking all happy. That's fake and wrong. Stop going to the parties first - that's not helping, if anything it makes it that much harder because it forces you to lie. Second, deal with the problems between you and your partner. Compromise if you can but if the guy is just a controlling freak, you may want to consider moving on from him. You deserve to love and be loved, be happy, get support and have companionship - this guy is not doing his part to make this happen.

if he wants you to 'act' all happy he knows already you are not and others in the family wouldnt approve of what he is or isnt doing. dont keep this to yourself, you may have married him but that doesnt give him the right to tell you what to feel or even what look to plaster on your face where relatives are concerned. make him work at this relationship or you may just find yourself, lonely, miserable, and full of sadness that will come from you never being able to acknowledge your true feelings. stand up for yourself and if you feel bad,,say so,,,,,,,,he is one man who wants an easy life with all the benefits,,why should you provide him with one at your own expense

You need to get some back bone and take up for yourself. Men will only do to you what you allow them to.
