Make sure you have posted your site to the search engines. Most of them are free for this service.

Next would be to make sure all the pages on your web site have proper and well written meta tags. Google meta tags and read up if not sure what this is.

Managing a web site just means having the domain name, the web space, etc. Easy, cheap way is to find a server for web space, nothing huge really needed. I personally am a programmer and have about 19 sites all within 20mb of space. Once you get some web space, upload your site to it (as in upload the pages, images, files, etc). Then buy or transfer your dot com (domain name) over to godaddy.com. With them you get a free domain email address and free forwarding. Forwarding is where you put in your web space address so when someone types in the dot com, it goes to your web site.

PS - remember web spiders only come around once a month. so if you post your site today, it might be awhile before the spiders see it and get it into the listing index. no one knows the date or time of the spiders till after they come through. when you google something and under each item you see "cache", spider times will be there for that item.
