I loved The Famous Five books (I still have all of mine - they'll be antiques soon lol) just the sense of mystery and adventure and the fact that it was children solving things that adults had failed to do was just brilliant! I also loved the Secret Seven, The Three Investigators, Nancy Drew etc etc.

Ah, those were the days!

I agree with Vie and many others-these are fantastic books, dealing with mystery and crime and yet full of innocence, joy and excitement. I read them when I was young and I've never stopped. I like Julian, and George's attitude is great. Also, her relationship with Timmy is really special. I've had similar relationships with my own dogs, but luckily Timmy can never die. Enid Blyton was a great author, and when all's said and done, what's not to like about her books?

Great books. I liked George (Georgina) and her tomboy ways and in particular the way she had Timmy the dog deal with unwanted people.

I also like The Secret Seven (Enid Blyton) and the Bobbsey Twins (Laura Lee Hope).

My dad had most of the series, so I read what I had access to, and then went and acquired the ones that I hadn't read. I liked that it didn't really matter what the order the books were read in, because they were essentially individual books that didn't reference the previous installment. Also, it amazed me how many holidays they had, yet the characters never really aged. I can only suppose that they had more than one adventure per holiday, which is more than what some people probably had!

i never liked this series.its too predictable.i just didnt enjoy it much.for adventure and mystry you must read sherlock holmes.enid blyton seems childish and too boring in comparison to these oauthors.but she is an excellent choice for allt hose interested in reading and is good to initiate the habbit.not being too harsh i do find her formation of story and certain concepts appealing.although i have read better i am really grateful to her stories as they introduced me to this world of fiction!

Looking back now, just the freedom those kids had! I think even as kid I envied the fact they could run round the countryside with little adult /parental interference!

the question is really rhetoric. the whole series is fantabulous. but the best part of it all is george and her fierce tom boyish ways. timmy is toooooooo cute. Julian, dick anne et all of them are spellbounding, astounding and...................Well i am running out of words.
