Shawshank Redemption -- Andy Dufresne's black friend 'Red' played by Morgan Freeman.
Not only did Andy give Red hope during the stay in jail, the end of the movie is one of the best 'feel-good' twists to hit the cinema.
The whole movie is from Red's perspective, and curiousity led to friendship; friendship led to dreaming; dreaming and Andy's example led to hope; and hope led to redemption.
Some may say Andy Dufresne's redemption is the greatest in this movie, but I must politely disagree. Red runs the whole spectrum from hard and calloused to hopeful and pursuing it, however short that pursuit is portrayed in the movie.
So, if I could be any character in any movie, I would be Red. "The one who appreciates something the most is the one who received the most."
