Difficult to say what the chances of success are. I qualified and worked as a plumber and heating engineer from when I left school. I started a new career teaching plumbing and heating at a Further Education College when I was 40 and have never looked back. I had to obtain recognised teaching qualifications which I did in service. I did not earn a fortune but I have thoroughly enjoyed my second career and I am now retired. Go for something that you enjoy doing and are reasonably knowledgeable about already. Decide what gifts, skills and abilities you have to offer and try several openings or opportunities. Explore your areas of interest. Remember you will be successful in the things that you are really interested in. Go for it. Good luck.

Well I changed my career when I was 47 and have enjoyed it. So nice to be doing something different. You'll be surprised how refreshing it feels. I went from owning a garage and employing staff to re training and getting CORGI registered. I went out on the tools for a while working for someone else for a change, but because of my background in business I soon started being asked to do more management jobs and now I am a director of the company I work for. So yes the chances are 'very' good....... Go for it and good luck.

i am not sure it all depends what you want to do i guess. i am 39 and i have had two careers one lasted 11 yrs the other going on 10 and still going. people need change now and then to be happy, you have to weigh your options, is the carrear is a good choice money wise? retirement wise?, what about doing it for at least 10 or more years? Can u see that, you have to ask all those and them some. Go for it, if you want.

Depends what previous jobs and qualifications you have and also what you want to do.
There are quite a few successful job changes over 40.
I changed from an Electrician to a Facilities Manager at that age and I now have over 40 staff working for me so it can work
Good Luck

Chances are very high - I was a bus driver till 40 and now earn £45k+ as a business manager. Your life experiences are very valuable and you should play on them positively at any interview.

It all depends on YOU.
If you are a hard worker and determined to make a go then you will.
40 year old is still young. you can do anything you want. you can start a new job, put in 20 years and still be too young to retire.
age is all in your mind. if you think 40 is old then it is.

Nobody knows.
But that is part of it being attractive, specially at that age. You have enough experience to have your feet firmly in the ground (hopefully) and enough energy to go through the stress that such a change carries with it.
