Its all benn serviced, its working as it should, but when it comes on in the morning, it sounds like the trombone section of a brass band, so, I have another winter of looking forward to getting up before everyone else does, to put the heating on, so I can run off some water from the hot top,as this stops the noise.....help!

Two Options that i can think off 1, air in the system which you can release through the blow off valve, may take a while to release it all.Or option 2 ,when you switch on your standard boiler it takes quite a while to heat the water and gradually push the hot water through your system,But with a combi the heat is straight away. This can cause an initial burst of hot water hitting your cold pipes in the morning causing a banging noise. The only way to solve this is to turn down your store stat.Get your engineer back and mention this to him,if he is any way switched on he should have looked at these options first.

Could be what is commonly called a "water hammer". It is common when there is a seal leak in the reservoir or supply line. Try another tap close to the nuisance, and let it just drip before you retire. Or, retire the old Dorsey trombonist to the scrap yard.
Ear plugs work for me when the GF snores.

There is air trapped in the system. The person who serviced it should have noticed. It shouldn't make that noise. Get them to come back and do the job properly!

My first suggestion could be to get somebody who is conscious what they're doing to look at it, if the ;boiler guy' you had around can't diagnose it "thinks it ought to be something to do with the ignition" he ought to be waiting to variety it out get a 2nd opinion quickly, merely in case that's a significant subject.

we had this, it was caused by debris in the system- we didnt need an alarm clock to wake us it was so noisy-we found out too late that the whole system needed a flush out and we ended up needing a new boiler
