I'm curious about how this will connect to a wireless router. When I add a PC to a wireless network, I have to hardwire my laptop to the router with a network cable then add the IP address of the new PC to the firewall.

Take into account that I use an encrypted WiFi connection as I don't want anyone whoring my bandwidth. Anyone know how the Wii will work with regards to connectivity in this case?

Your wireless router works in a very odd way indeed! You will need to make sure you have DCHP enabled on your router, so it can automatically give out IP addresses to connected devices. Then it'll just be a case of selecting your wireless network on the Wii and it'll connect (after putting in security, or so on).

One thought - you don't mean that the router accesses your laptop's MAC to add it to a permitted list? If so, you'll be able to just write down the Wii's MAC and enter that into your router's setup manually.

If its anything like the Nintendo DS it will connect easily enough. When you try to connect to wifi it will search the area like a normal wireless device and when found and you try to enter it will ask for the type of encryption and then you add the encrypted alpha numeric sequence.

No idea but I to have a wireless router and am waiting for the wii. Let's hope in true Nintendo Style all will be well

If the set up is anything like the ds there are options to add all the passwords etc so your device can connect. At home mine is passworded so i just clicked find wifi and it connected straight away.

The Nintedo Wii has a diff. frequency, so I dont think you will have any problems with that issue.
