use a pdf file creator. there are several that are free downloads. one is jaws to pdf at jaws website. also, some newer word processor programs have them as part of the program as well as straight pdf creator software from some store handling office supplies for very little cost. i found office suite 2005 at half price books for $5 and it does almost everything used in an office. it is also compatible to msword. and has pdf creator in it. just read what the software does and you'll get along fine. latest adobe reader is for the commercial pdf it creates and is used by many gov and businesses. it will read any earlier type pdf as well so that s no problem.
