see the reason is because an orange it's not really orange (not all the time anyways) but fiery yellow, so we don't call it orange because of the color we call the color orange because of the fruit.
Huh, so I guess the real question is why don't we call green lime and yellow lemon??? Now that's a real mystery

Because the word for the color orange was derived from the name of the fruit. It was derived from the Sanskrit work narangah, meaning "orange tree"--which in old french, was pronounced orenge. The word orange as a fruit didn't actually appear in the english language until around the 14th century.
the name of the color, derived from the fruit first appeared inthe 16th century.
There have also been arguements that sanskrit may have adapted the word from other languages such as italian or dravidian. Anyways, that's that story.

Probably coz orange was the original name for the fruit. And since the reddish yellowish shade didn't have a name (at the time) they just called it orange. (They were probably contemplating pumpkins too but not all pumpkins are orange, so the best would be Orange)

i guess it's because there are a lot of things you see every day that are green(think of all the plants there are) or yellow (the sun, flowers, dead leaves...) but you don't see many orange things that are natural every day... so an orange is pretty much the only thing you see often that is "orange", making it a great representative for the color!
