I have a few questions about clubbing in Tokyo. First, what`s the average club price? I`m pretty cheap, so I`d like to go to a club that`s 2000 yen or less. Is that reasonable? Or do I need to raise my minimum price?

Can anyone suggest any clubs that are reasonably priced in which you had a good time? I like all kinds of music and atmospheres.

Also, while I`ve been researching clubs, I keep coming across things like this: `Admission: 3500 yen /1 drink` Does that mean I get a free drink with my admission? Or that there is a one drink minimum?

I`ve also seen this:`Admission: 2,500 yen/1 drink~FREE!` What does that mean? I`ve never heard of this before. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

clubbing in japan can be expensive...."shot bars" are reasonable cheaper than the dance clubs. 2000-3500yen is norm in any big city besides Tokyo.

I think you should try the gaijin bars, much cheaper and the crowd is ok .

If you go to the clubs the adm usually comes with one or two drinks...after that you gotta pay cash for more drink

Go to the Metropolis free English magazine if you are in Japan. It lists whats happening at all the major clubs. Japan today has a link on their website. The 1 drink thing is a drink ticket for free! So if you drink then that saves you at least 500-700Y. I found that 1500 was average for the small joints. The bigger clubs are 3000 and up but sometimes 2 free drinks. Then there are those all you can drink clubs in Shibuya sometimes. But get beer or they will water you down.

For the down and out there is always Gaspanic(s) - there 2 or 3 in Roppongi alone. Entry is free but you got to buy a drink 500-900Yen and you need to always have a drink. Course if you buy a beer you can nurse it most of the night - and when it gets stupidly crowded you can easily avoid the Drink-Nazis.

There are several clubs/bars that operate like this especially in Roppongi: Wallstreets I-III, Motown I-II, 9-11.

As for you questions these ads mean that you get one free drink with your cover charge. Some places issue you a drink ticket at the door.

Happy clubbing!

Most of clubs don't charge a cover during the week. Usually the cover is on the weekends or special nights.
I found the cool little places on the side streets of Shibuya to be the most fun. When I was at Uni, my group of friends found this little place called "Sugar High", was quite cool. Owned by an Australian dude and his American/Japanese GF. We went there so often during the week that after about one month...we got in for free whenever we went there. So thats another way to avoid covers..build a repertoire with the owner or bouncers...they'll take care of you.
Too bad that Sugar High closed down now..the australian dude got busted for something and deported. His GF I dunno what happened to her but shortly after he was arrested, the doors closed.
Japan is great fun!

911 in Roppongi is cool.
I enjoyed Club Asia in Shibuya as well.
Also there's a club called Fu-ra in Shibuya.
I remember having a good time there as well but I dunno, I was probably just drunk.
Oh and Muse in....I think it was Minami-Azabu....

Forgot how much it was but I think average will be 2000 - 3500 yen w/ 1 drink.
