Which is better on an all round scale - I would like to visit one good Theme Park while I'm staying in the UK.

It depends where you are staying.
Thorpe Park is easier to get to from London and also easier by public transport

you have to visit both i go to both at least 20 times a year Thorpe park has great rides stealth shoots you out at 82 mph in 2.5 seconds and takes you up 205 foot theres also colossus which is the worlds first 10 looping roller coaster then threes Alton towers you have to go and ride Rita queen of speed she is like stealth but you go round a roller coaster track and then theres nemesis that is so cool you sit in it and your legs are hanging there are so many good rides you really have to do both hope this helps

thorpe park is a hell of a lot closer than alton, but personally, i would do the journey to alton towers--its the best in the uk...its beautiful!
me and my family went there and there were so many rides, we could not do them all in one day! well worth the extra travel.

never been to thorpe park but alton towers the BEST!!!
