Hello,
my kids took off the speakers on my computer! Put them back on and now I have a horrible echo when I play a DVD rom especially a speaking voice! Sounds horrible.
How do I get rid of the echo?
Im Using XP.

The mic is not turned on!
Ive went to mute the mic.
But still getting echo. It didnt do this last week!

Hello,
Thanks for tips. I have tried what you said. But in the end went and did system restore! This worked and now have no awful echo. However the sound seams low! Ive checked volume and cant see why?

First u check the sound effect settings in ur machine. U click on the sound effect option(AC97 Audio Configuration)->environment under this select as none->ok. Now u check the sound and if it continues better change the speakers.

I bet you have a microphone hooked up also,, turn down the mic sensitivity go to control panel and click on sounds and then look for mic and turn it down and maybe your speakers a bit as well, By taking them off the Default settings may have opened the volume all the way up for speakers and sensitivity for mic all the way up, check that tho, I bet thats the issue,

Go into the volume control settings area, and under the mic volume control make sure the "mute" option is checked ON. Muting the mic does not mean muting it so it doesnt work, it just simply means it is muted in standby so you dont hear anythign while its sitting on your desk or whatever.

Yes, mute the mic or maybe they have enabled echo in the advanced settings of your soundcard.

I don't know what your kids may have done, but your sound mixer setting must have been modified. Set it back to default. Note that it's also referred to as surround mixer.

Maybe your Microphone is ON. turn it off .
