You may be lacking in some vitamins and minerals in your diet:
Vitamin A is needed for healthy skin, hair, bones and nails. It is found in liver, fortified milk, and other meats.
Vitamin D helps to absorb Calcium. Vitamin D is found in egg yolk, fortified milk, and also the exposure of sunlight on the skin helps the body to produce vitamin D. Calcium is needed for strong teeth, bones, and healthy skin; found in milk, yogurt, cheese, sardines and brocolli.

Garlic is good for you in many ways, but in your case it would help with circulation. If you can improve the circulation to your fingers then the skin would recieve more nutrients and oxygen to keep the skin healthy.

Ok so your getting hangnails. First wear a moisturizing glove to bed. They sell them At Bed Bath& Beyond. Second use a cuticle cream or and hand or body lotion and massage into the affected are up to 10 times a day! It may hurt to pull it off so use a set of nail clippers they trim it short enough so it doesn't get in the way and so your cant pick at it and it doesn't even hurt too bad. Third of all dig deep why are you getting hangnails??? Do your bite your nails do your pick your nails and you don't even know it?? next time you get a hangnaill think about if you had any test or anything nerve wracking to make you bite or pick around your nail beds. Hope that helps!!!

Vitamin deficiency is part of the answer - a multivitamin supplement will help - but you can also strengthen your nails longer-term by eating jelly - the packets you buy to make jelly can be eaten 'raw' and is quite delicious. Tru 1/2 a pack daily and they should improve within a week.

Good luck
