Floods, heat waves, and drought are much more common than hurricanes, and (each of which) are collectively more destructive than tornadoes (or 'canes). Which is the MOST common? Depends how you define "common". Areal coverage? Number of occurrences? Fatalities? Economic impacts?

I think that depends on where you live. Where I live it is either floods, or tornado's. We have tons of tornado's, and they destroy hundreds of homes each year.
