its probably because they get treated better because of their looks, people will want to talk to them more (esp. boys) because attractive means just that, people are attracted to beauty and they know it,
i have a scale for girls, on one end of the scales you have beauty and on the other end is personality, one tends to weight more than the other with everyone
but occasionally you find a girl that has both in spades

Because some girls who think that they are pretty don't feel the need to study or open a book. They think that their looks are more then enough to get by and other then the shell there isn't any thing else for you to know. Those girls will live long lives full of disappointment and in the end self loathing. Because beauty is short lived. Then after they have spent all of their money on things that depreciate with time, along with their looks they will end up alone and Penny less. WAAAA :((
An education and knowledge lives life in volumes.
I'd get tired of hearing about nails, hair, and clothes. But talk about Science and Biology :} Gets my blood pumping!!

Style over content I'm afraid.
I went to School with a girl WHO WAS REALLY BEAUTIFUL. However, she had the personality of a Brussels Sprout.
I think that its basically because, as they are pretty, people want to be with them, give them attention etc etc so they do not try.
I knew a girl who, well was plain, for want of a better word - BUT she had a sense of humour, could take part in a conversation about almost anything, high IQ, loyal etc etc.
She knew she did not have looks so made up for it in other areas.

Because really pretty girls have never had to do anything else other than look good to attract people. Whereas less attractive people make an effort with their conversation and sense of humour.
And they think they're a cut above because they get "loads of blokes". when the real reason they get loads is because one man wont stick around for too long when hes sleeping with a boring dull arm candy.

Yes, I believe that they are conditioned to feel superior. Evolutionary ethics postulates that they are superior because their prettiness is a symbol/sign to the opposite sex that they are healthy and will therefore reproduce well. Much the same way that women are attracted to strong men or men who make a lot of money - they can take care of them and protect their offspring.

I agree with Nr Gravy, its because they get all the attention so feel that they dont have to work for anything. Its a result of our society. lok at all our magazines, movies etc they are all good looking but in fact what you never see is what these girls look like when they take off the ton of make up that they wear.
I have always belived that beauty is skin deep.

always the way. some pretty girls arent like that you know. its teh way society is.
people make more of a fuss of pretty women and not so much of less pretty women ,
its down to the woman though whether she lets it go to her head!
I have very pretty mates and they arent like that in fact they couldnt be more normal and are friends with everyone not just attractive people as per the set shuold be! it comes from school i think you always get the Elite crowd which makes me sick and the rest are not good enough! society just blame that!
personality counts for so much these days although looks are quite important too!

I don't think that's true. Some girls are more popular because they are more assertive and confident. When I see groups of girls at school, they are the leaders, regardless of their looks. In adults, it's the way others treat you- men seem to go all mushy around a pretty girl, especially if she has long blonde hair. and most men's brains are in their trousers. It's most unfair though that unattractive girls never seem to get anywhere, but it doesn't affect men.

I think that if you are truly beautiful then you are beautiful from within as well. I think you are referring to the vacuous generic blondes who seem to walk with their heads higher than everyone else thinking the world owes them something. I think this comes from insecurity. They believe that if they look the way society expects "beautiful" people to look i.e. french manicure, designer shades, straightened blonde hair, size 10 dress size then they will be "accepted". It is easy for anyone to achieve this with a little willpower but it does not make you beautiful. Real beauty is about the glow one someones cheeks as they laugh while running through a wood or the smile of happiness at hearing a baby laugh. It is time we stopped paying attention to the media world of perceived beauty and started seeing real beauty around us.

It usually begins with the parents telling them how cute they are, then by the time they enter school they already have an attitude and some get preferential treatment by others in their life so by the time they get to their teen years the inside uglies have set in and they don't feel a need to learn about anything but what surrounds them.

being good looking is a strength, just like it is to be intelligent. people show off their strengths.
most girls are pretty: whether naturally or self-made, so u think most of the female population is boring and stuck up?
and have u thought that these "pretty girls" might get bored of u complaining?
ps- this is from a girl hu wud consider herself pretty average!
