My wife doesn't like my mother. She won't say it explicitly, but you can tell from her actions, critical comments from time to time, and her reluctance to be around my mother. Sad too because I really like my mother as a friend, she's getting old, and my wife's attitude means we spend less time with my mother. I think it's sad how old people are basically shoved aside, ignored, and the MIL thing only makes it worse.
I can see how my mother makes the situation not easy. She does want the world to revolve around her. And so does my wife.
But aren't fathers and father-in-laws easy and great??

Way too generalized...altho I just a person talking about this to me three days ago. Funny, huh?
Evidently, women must be threated by their mother-in-laws.
I do not know why. Can we as women not understand that we can love more than one person at a time??? Much less the woman who raised the man "she" married to...Love her.its worthit

No because they do not want their mother n law to get the attention of their sons and leave them in 2nd place. Speaking for myself none of my daugter n laws act like they like me at all. Then they becomes jealous and do not want their men to support their mothers or take them places. Women of this sort is out of place.

I love my (potential) mother-in law. I've been with my bf for over 5 years, and her and I have the best time gossiping about him.
She always makes my favorite food, and gives me little presents if she sees something I might like.
From the moment my bf brought me home, I felt so accepted by his parents that I came to love them at least as much as my grandparents:)

Even if you don't like the woman, I think it's good to keep up a nice relationship, because you can get alot of insight into why your husband is the way he is now by learning his past. Who's better to get that info from than his mom.

depends on the mum-in-law, the wife, the husband and how each person relates to each other
some families actually get along with each other; some are highly dysfunctional and need the help of a good counsellor ...

Some yes, but I have also dated guys and hated their moms and would never want to be related to them. Moms want to protect and make all the decisions for their kids so there will always be confrontations.

-I cannot stand mine. She is an evil no good ***** who always plays the innocent dumb role after trying to destroy my marriage.
She is miserable in her own and has nothing better to do than sit on her fat lazy *** and talk about me and my sister -in- law to anyone who will listen.
