use the PC suite that comes with your phone to sync your contacts on Microsoft Outlook. Otherwise store all your contacts on your sim. Little chance of anything going wrong.

it depend on your model of mobile phone. for example for nokia - PC Suite, for other there must be but i can't remember, and all they as far as know free.
