A catalog is a compilation of records describing the contents of a particular collection or group of collections. For example, the CU Library Catalog has records for most of the items held by Cornell Library and the OCLC WorldCat catalog lists the holdings of books, journals, and other materials held by OCLC member libraries all over the world.
