Everyone seems to hate. We are stereo-typed as depressed ppl who cut ourselves for attention, and just want ppl to take pity on us. But for everyone, thats not true. yes, i am emo. my 2 best friends rnt emo. i am often depressed. i dont cut myself, and i dont want ppls pity. emo just means 'emotional'. we're not some sort of secret cult like everyone seems to think we are. i just dont get it. y do ppl hate us so much?

Baloney. EVERYONE is emotional. EVERYBODY'S emotions control them at one point or another. "Emo"s simply let their emotions control them twenty-four seven. Or, they like to pretend they do.

This isn't to say that depression isn't a serious disease. My best friend miscarried her baby because of her extreme anxiety. However, she managed to function in the world like a normal person. Being emo is an identity -- it's not bad, it's not good, it's an identity. There's jocks, there's nerds -- these are stereotypes that have the good and bad sides to them. Emo is a relatively new stereotype, especially in the high school scene, and people that subscribe to this way of behavior need to learn that they're opening themselves up for a lot of criticism -- and... because they "feel" things so much more than everyone else... they'll probably be hurt by what other people think about them.

I realized after my first true love that I am an emo. I can really care less what other people think.

What's important is how I can cope with my relationship.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not soft, I just feel things in a significant way. It affects my mood and thinking. I know most people thingk that emo's are, for some reason, negative, but, just feel happy girls that someone feels and loves like you!

As a mom of a Emo kid, I think it's because people don't understand the fad. They are closed minded and don't like to accept different lifestyles. Emo's need to realize that their style already happened, it was called the 80' and 90's, only we called it Mods and Goths. It's ok though.

People hate things they fear, they fear things they don't understand, and they don't understand that feeling is okay.
For what it's worth, as long as you're not hurting anyone, I can respect you. But then again, I'm weird. :>
