Im takin a greyhound to another state, the ride itself is going to be well over 24hours. what my question is, is whats the longest road trip youve been on? and what did you do to pass the time? And i would take a plane, but unfortunately where i reside now, our airport is only for military usage. so i have no choice but to take the bus.

On a bus, sit by the window and watch the world go by. I daydream a lot and sleep a lot. Some people read and some use headphones for their music but I would rather watch the world go by. Sometimes I listen to old radio shows. These are available on satellite radio or on CDs as mp3s. Don't let people around you bug you. You can try to sit next to a grandmother and listen to stories about her grandchildren the whole trip. I one time drove alone 21 hours straight. I've been on cross country bus trips. One time my sister and brother-in-law drove from the Midwest to California for a wedding over the 4th of July 3-day weekend. We were in California for about 12 hours, long enough for the wedding and a few zzzzs.

Listen to your mp3 player, read, watch the world go by.
Of course I always drive....5 days has been the longest road trip I've been on non-stop. Michigan to Alaska.. Also, an 8 day trip from Wyoming to NH & back..with a 4 day rest in between. There's nothing better to rest the mind than a nice long trip across the great plains.

You could join the military but you probably wouldn't be able to go where you want.

I've taken a couple 28 hr bus rides and many more shorter ones There is always a baby and a drunk. They will keep you awake by their incessant talking or wandering up and down the aisle.

I would sit by the window and bring water, a couple magazines or a book and comfortable shoes and loose clothing. Most of all a good sense of humor. You will have stories to tell after it is over.
