I think you would have at least a six out of ten chance of being accepted by at least one of the four schools. A lot depends on your references, how well you do on your essay, the qualifications of others applying, and what major you select. Some majors (like engineering) are harder to get into than something like English Lit. My son had similar academic accomplishments to yours, i.e. 4.0+, good SAT scores, and high class rank. He had three sports and band, but few other extra curricular activities. He also had very little community service. He applied to both UCSD and UCB in engineering, but was not accepted to either, but was accepted at Chico, Santa Barbara, Davis, Santa Cruz, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. (He did not apply to UCI or UCLA.)

Your essay and your SAT scores are vital. I attend UCB now majoring in Business. The most important part about your essay is why you are choosing your major. Use as many examples and experiences as possible. For UCB, I would say that volunteering along with real life experience helps. They really look for people who make a real difference in the community and who have passion for it. Visit as many application workshops as possible and have counselors at UCB read your essay. Here is a website that may be useful if you plan on getting into Haas School of Business in Berkeley. www.transfertohaas.piczo.com. Good Luck.
