probably a virus has attacked your machine. one idea is to re-install the entire OS.

Or make sure you have checked your computer with an antivirus software. (Confirm you have all the latest updates!)

Or, Maybe you can try converting the file to some other format, so that you don;t need to open ms word. try wordpad, for example.

Or, open MS Word (without opening any file). Disable macros (must be there in some option). Open the file.

Hope one of my suggestions helps!

Good luck! Happy Diwali!

Computer viruses such as the blaster virus are written to reboot your computer without warning. Usually these viruses will make the computer reboot ever 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes after the computer has booted.
If you believe your computer may be infected with a virus or are uncertain if your computer is infected with a virus make sure your virus scanner definitions are up to date.
If you find that you do indeed have a virus, make sure to delete it while your System Restore is turned off. This way, it won't hide there when you restore your computer. You should also open your computer in Safe Mode while deleting it.

chandran k This is a classic case of Microsoft Word Template corruption. There is a chance that you or your assistant might have accidentally used a short-cut on saving file or printing file or made a some kind of changes to template to your doc files. Check your Hard-Drive if you had your Back-up turn on Word then you will find a back-up copy of your ORIGINAL built up template. Restore it to default setting and you will have your back-up file ready to be save as new doc. Good Luck

If your computer hangs or reboots while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yk5zpr
