The president signing the military commissions bill into law on Wednesday which ended habeas corpus- the right to due process and the right of a person to know what crime he or she is accused of. A person can now be held indefinitely, without charges, at the discretion of the President or the Secretary of Defense. It is kind of scary to think that our civil liberties are being rolled back and most Americans are not aware of it. It seems like the terrorists have achieved a lot of what they set out to- fundamentally changing U.S. society. The weakening of our democracy is definitely one of the most important issues facing the U.S.

I would think that a really huge problem in America is the lack of health care for all citizens. I think that it is sad when you see someone on the television asking for donations so that they can have a badly needed operation because they have no insurance and can't afford to pay for the procedure. It really pulls at my heartstrings when it is a small child that needs a transplant done but the money just isn't there so the child dies. I think it is sad that in a country the size of the U.S. that there is nothing much available to the people. I think that the government should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe if they cut back on their military budget which they always seem to have enough money for they could afford to supply health care coverage for the population. I also think that it is sad that there are so many HMO'S and that they get to decide who lives and who dies. The thought of that makes me physically sick. If you are sick and need medical attention you shouldn't have to answer a bunch of questions before you receive the attention. The fact that you can have a hospital 5 blocks from where you are but the HMO won't approve that particular hospital and so they have to take you to another hospital which is 40 miles from where you are just makes no sense to me whatsoever. How many people have died going to the hospital 40 miles away that might have survived if they could have gone to the hospital 5 blocks away? In Canada the government provides health insurance for every man, woman and child in the country. No one dies because they had to wait for someone else to decide where you are going to receive treatment at. It isn't a perfect system but it is by far superior to what the U.S. has. Canada is a larger country than the U.S. in land area but it doesn't have anywhere near the population that the U.S. has but I'm sure if some of these politicians could take a moment or two and stop thinking about which country they are going to go to war with next and took some of that budget money and thought about the real needs of the people that health care could be a reality for each and every citizen of this great country. Hillary Clinton was working for the people and trying to get Legislation to pass some sort of bill so that this could become a reality but the big boys who don't have to worry about such silly things as taking their kids to the dentist or if a child gets sick and needs a doctor or a hospital the tax payers pay for those things for the government so how can they identify with this problem when they have never wanted for anything in their lives. I think both the Bush administrations have by far been the worst offenders when it comes to putting yet another war ahead on the list of priorities and shooting down the possibility of health care and that is because they might have to cut down on how many missiles they get to buy because they now have to start giving something back to the people of the country. Oh well I guess I will get off of my soapbox for now and let someone else have a turn because I could go on forever about this particular subject. The biggest problem though if we are really honest is that we need to start putting our priorities in order and start making noise. Start writing letters to your Congressman(woman) and your Senators and anyone else that you can think of that can help you to make health care a reality. If enough people ban together and make enough noise eventually someone is going to have to listen. Try it, it can't hurt. The worst thing that can happen is that it gets turned down and if there is any power in prayer someone will have to start listening to what the general population want and start making some changes for the better. Stop all the needless deaths.

Why alternative political parties are excluded from participating in the elections. Why we don't have term limits for all office holders! Why we don't have campaign spending limits! The most important issue is why we have voter suppression and voter fraud! What good is voting when your vote is no longer counted anyways?

One of my concerns is the amount of debt and the fact that savings is becoming difficult if not impossible.
I would like to see some things, notably education and health care become a lot more affordable. And I would like to see government at every level encourage and facilitate citizens, from small children to senior citizens, to save as much as they can.

Well it certainly isn't friggen Health Care that's for sure!!!!!.....Not hundreds or thousands, but Millions are without health care because you can't afford it!!!.....and that is a friggen joke.....not ha ha, but sarcastically said!...when an aspirin costs $6.00 in the hospital, and a whole bottle costs .97 cents, that is price gouging, guess only the gas companies aren't allowed to do that....would love to see the presidential candidate who has the balls to go for health care on his ticket!!!....be the record setting voting in US history!!!
