Hey, my hubby who was a commercial fisherman for many years, when we read of the latest Stingray Barb in the chest victim, says, maybe they're finally gonna rise up together and get us!
Ya just surprised me when I read that, maybe we were the only ones who would think so off the wall, or with such sick senses of humor?
STAY ON THE BEACH!

No,stingrays are a member of the Dasyatidae genus, and are related to sharks and skates. They have been around on earth long, long before humans, going back to the Devonian period, around 400 million years ago,and they dont plot on much more than searching the bottom of shallow, warmer sea floors for food, and trying to mate. They would mostly like to be left alone, and would much rather run than sting, but when messed with too much, they will sting, and it will hurt, they not only have a nasty stinger, but they also have neurotoxin in it,after all, thier stinger is desined for use agianst large sharks, who want to eat them. When Mr.Irwin agitated one too much,He found out the hard way.

No.
They are a relatively docile chordate sea animal, closely related to the shark, that feed mainly on plankton and other sea plants.
The stinger is a type of passive defense, like the spines on a porcupine. Ask any dog that ever tangled with a porcupine whether a porcupine is a docile creature and it will probably growl at you.
