The night before, I had prayed that God would give me something to think about besides my own problems. Boy does God know how to get my mind off my little problems. I have my alarm set for 9 am Central time. I woke to the radio DJ telling what had happened. I ran in to tell my grandma, but she already had the tv on. I sat in my pappaw's chair for three days and cried. Pappaw had died three weeks before 9/11. I just kept saying I was glad pappaw didn't live to see this!

pulling a four bolt mained 350 out of a El Camino that had a bad body, one of those jobs that other people don't want
it was a beautiful morning til my crazy friend on the farm came running and looked like: chicken little ,screaming the sky is falling, the cherry picker was old and the engine pulled hard for what ever reasons, about eleven pm that night, i sat with my hopes and flip on the TV and watched it almost, since then: once a week there is something attached to the incident that continually never ends about i was.stunned, even Today: i recall the slab was cleared and the vault was emptied and the show stopped dead in it's tracks when the 25 million was pulled from the vault and the searchers ended, .

Driving the kids to school - ALL the radio stations were talking so I knew something had happened. But it took a while to figure it out. I called home and had my wife turn on the TV, she described the pictures.
At my kids' elementary school, it seemed all the parents were making a conscious effort not to talk about it. We didn't know how bad it was, and I think everyone wanted to get a better handle on it before trying to explain it to our kids.
I drove to work listening to the radio. I walked in the building and stopped at a TV in another tenant's office. A few of us stood there and watched the buildings burn. Eventually I went up to my office and actually did a little bit of work. But, we're on the top floor of a 12 storey bldg literally across the street from a regional airport, so eventually the bldg management sent us home, thinking it wasn't safe for us to be there.
So I drove home trying to fathom the changes that were coming.

I was at home on my couch. I had taken the day off work through illness. I was in the UK at the time and so it was about lunch time and I was flicking through the channels on my TV and caught it on the news from about the time when the second plane hit the WTC tower. I can remember when they stated saying it was likely terrorists. I can remember them saying that other planes where unaccounted for, I can remember waitiong for other 'domestic' target to be hit. they where saying things about the Pentagon being put on high alert, DEFCON4.
I began to wonder where the USAF was, or even the Air National Guard.
Then the pentagon was hit although they have never shown those images, the Pentagon was hit!
I thought, hang on... Andrews AFB is 10 miles from there, WTF? Where the hell was the Air Force, where the hell was the anti aircraft batteries?
I suspected then that somehow, orders had been followed allowing the Pentagon to be hit.
Then the talking heads alomost immediately starting the mantra of AL Queda.
As the nation and the world where in shock at seeing 50,000 lives (as we were being told at the time) extinguished LIVE on TV. that SHOCK that interrupts normal rational conscious thought and creates a very effective gateway to the subconscious. The SHOCK that is a VERY effective hypnotic trigger. SHOCK Al queda al queda al queda al queda al queda al queda: SHOCK war on terror war on terror war on terror war on terror war on terror war on terror.
I thought immediately that Saddam was responsible. he had been the bogeyman up till then, but as time passed and the ANthrax scare hit, it seemed less likely that Saddam was involved at all.
Ah yes, the Anthrax. the scare that hit the capitol. the scare they dare not mention except in passing. The knew the full ID's activities, histories and known connections of the 19 patsy terrorist hijackers within 3 days. YET 5 years on from the Anthrax attacks? the only suspect they had was innocent, and the refused to follow up on where the real evidence lay. That highly placed polititians had previously already been prescribed Cipro to mitigate against...anthrax.
The military AMES strain, made in only one location. A strain that was 1000 times more deadly than anything Saddam ever had (even when the west was selling the stuff to him) A highly militarised strain that was released in several densly populated cities through the mail system. Yet only 5 people died?
Some WMD that! A road crash is more deadly. But it was a MAGNIFICENT weapon of fear. The headlines screamed for over a week of the deadly biological weapon attacks.
But ONLY 5 people died.
09/11/2001 was the date that the western governments gave up on being good, decent, honest brokers, dedicated to truth, freedom, democracy and all that stood for and bacame thouroughly embroiled in the politics of fear and the politics of hate.

I was 17. I was still pissed that the Giants lost to Denver the night before. I was in the shower in Springfield, OH. I was supposed to start a roofing job. HOT 102.9 (Dayton's Hip-Hop & R&B Leader!) broke in during J.Lo & Ja Rule singing about something... They had an unconfirmed report of a plane hitting the building... I run downstairs as CNN pans a camera over to see plane hit the North tower...

I was at work when I first heard about it. I did not realize how serious the situation was until I got home and watched the coverage on cnn. I was recently divorced and living with mt brother at the time. I called my kids and my mom just to tell them that I love them. I was emotionally very upset by this act and we just sat and watched the coverage for hours and cried and reminisced about how lucky we thought we always were to live in a country where things like this did not happen.

At the library and once the news of this tragedy came over the news the library got even more quiet then it has ever been before.
This should be a wake up call for all countries to do their very best to work for world peace because no one wants this to ever happen anywhere again.
This is something that makes all good people want nothing more then to feel and be safe at all times but with this happening to us it's even more terrifying to think that their are such cowardly people who truly believe that their god rewards such ungodly acts of terrorism.
I am a good christian and I believe that no matter what god you worship that he/she will never condone such acts of murder no matter what their religion says it does. They are not acting under any god but only the devil.

I can't imagine any-one ever forgetting where they were that day.
I was at work in a Red Cross Shop, a place where we used to disasters, but when the report came through on our radio, and our first reaction was this can't be for real. When we realized it was, it was so terrifying and horrific, so difficult to believe very frightening. It gave us all a overwhelming sense of helplessness and our hearts were filled with fear.

I'm in Australia, so they happened at around 11pm on Tuesday night local time for us...I heard of them the next morning. Was on holiday with family (and was only 15 at the time) - I got out of my tent and joined my parents in a caravan they sleep in - at about 8am for breakfast. As I was finding cereal and thinking about the upcoming days fishing, my mum asked me if I'd "heard about the World Trade Centre?" - I replied with "no...what happened...?" and she said "it's been decimated...planes hit both buildings, they fell"...and I just couldn't believe it. I asked "hey...??" and she said..."yes...it's true" - just as we turned on the TV to watch - rest of the day was spent watching TV or listening to radio - everyone we spoke to talked about it...
