It is not common to have consistent bleeding while pregnant, but it can happen. Most early miscarriages happen before 12 weeks. It is much more common to have bleeding that is due to a miscarriage. You can have a bit of implantation bleeding but that can be due to a poor implantation as well that turns into a miscarriage. If you have some bleeding for 5 days and it goes away and it comes again every month while pregnant - then you could be experiencing that less common type of bleeding. See your doctor since they can do a blood test to determine if you are pregnant, how far along you would be and if you may be going through an early miscarriage. If it started with some weird spotting and then after a few weeks - gets heavier - then this sounds like an early miscarriage but only your doctor will be able to tell for sure. There is some bleeding that can happen due to issues with the cervix too.

Hi! I had breakthrough bleeding with my first. It was literally two tiny bright red drops. I had cramps and felt PMS-ish so I didn't really think about it. But then finally when my next period was late and I even waited two weeks after that! I went to the doc and by then my HCG confirmed that I was 4 weeks along. Anyhow, I don't think that continuous spotting is normal. If you are pregnant and having this then you should talk to your OB about it because there could be something causing it that can be prevented or at least can let you know what to expect if something does go wrong down the road.

No ammount of bleeding while pregnant should be ignored. It should ALWAYS be checked out by a doctor. Women do not get true periods while pregnant...according to several pregnancy websites, and every OB/GYN I have ever talked to.

The first month of my pregnancy I had a full term period. The second month nothing. My doctor said it is very rare but, happens. Spotting that is brownish is OK. But, if it is red I would defiantly let your doctor know about it.
