There's a guy I know who always talks to me in Spanish because I think he assumes I'm Hispanic. I don't say anything because I'm not sure if he's saying it to be funny/cool, or if he's saying it because he truly thinks I'm hispanic. For example, he'll say something like "hola senorita" or he'll say "gracias" when I hand him stuff.
I've always had a problem with people thinking I'm of a different race, but do you think this guy is just playing around? And if it is because he's assuming i'm hispanic, which I'm not, isn't that ignorant for someone to assume that you're a certain race?

He might think you're hispanic but he's probably just goofing around. I used to have guys say little stuff like that in Spanish and they knew I wasn't hispanic and I don't look hispanic at all, except sometimes from the back if they just see dark hair. They're probably just showing off that they know a few words of another language. Lots of Spanish words are so well known that they get treated like slang English. Hola, gracias, comprende, bueno fit into that category.

Because we are extra secure speakme Spanish with a fellow Spanish speaker. As for me, it is instinctual. When I'm speakme to a pal or relative I have a tendency to change backward and forward among languages, and even speak in each languages (Spanglish). And incidentally, why do not you brain your possess industry and give up looking to eavesdrop on different peoples conversations? I'm ill and worn out of non-Spanish audio system complaining approximately humans speakme Spanish. I listen Asians, Middle Easterners, Europeans and so forth. speakme their language at all times, both at paintings or in different public areas, and you do not see me whining approximately them speakme Chinese, or Japanese or what ever language they talk.

This is only a problem you are having at the moment. It is not just you. Those are curtsies.

I am far from dark looking with blue eyes and blond/graying hair and I get this all over when I go to town...

Next time say hello to him the next time he says hello, if he is bi lingual whats the problem? Or tell him next time you do not speak spanish....unless of course you just don't want anything to do with him, tell him that....

If he did not think you were cute he would ignore you.....
